Left, right and center parties support Rome Olympic bid

PD and PdL table support motions, sources say
Italy's two biggest political parties tabled motions to support Rome's bid to host the 2020 Olympics on Monday, parliament sources said. The centre-left Democratic Party (PD) and former premier Silvio Berlusconi's centre-right People of Freedom (PdL) party found common ground on the issue. The centrist 'Third Pole' party was reportedly also lending its support. Bid organizers are campaigning Premier Mario Monti to sign a motion to support the games, the final stamp of approval needed before officially sending off a proposal to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) by Wednesday.
