India's top court admits Italy's appeal on marines Hearing set May 8

The Indian supreme court on Monday admitted Italy's appeal against the detention of two Italian marines accused of killing two Indian fishermen while protecting a ship from pirates.

It set a hearing for May 8.

Italy says the case of Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone should be tried in Italy because the incident took place in international waters.

An Indian ballistics test said bullets found in the fishermen's bodies were compatible with rifles seized from the ship.

Italy has requested another ballistics test.
